Unless you happen to have caught them live over the past year and a half in Tucson, you may not yet be familiar with Birds and Arrows, but they will be stirring up some dust devils this summer. This new single, recorded at Dust and Stone by Gabriel Sullivan, is out June 16 and includes some help from Tucson locals Ben Nisbet (guitar solo) and Katie Haverly (backing vocals). The video was shot in the Tucson Mountains and edited by Brooklyn based videographer Andrew Ellmaker. Video concept/script by Emily Claire Ragsdale.
You might notice the dogs in this video — not to upset your suspension of disbelief, but these were not wild dogs from the Tucson Mountains, but professional actors, courtesy of Cris Rankin of A1 Animal Talent Agency in Phoenix. One of those dogs made an appearance in the very popular television series Breaking Bad. I hear there is a “sex tape” that just surfaced (involving said dog and a raccoon). We will follow up on that story as details emerge.
Andrea and Pete Connolly met in Chapel Hill, NC in 2006 and began both a band and a relationship. They’ve since released about 8 recordings (listed below).
While on tour promoting their last album, Edge of Everything, they came through Tucson and became enamored (as all savvy people do). They moved here on New Years of 2016 and have been nestling in ever since. They’ve played about 12 shows around Tucson, and have a show coming up with Brian Lopez, June 23rd at Club Congress if you wanna catch them live.
Instead of working on a new album directly, they’ve decided to release a string of singles over the next year or so, working toward a new EP (courting a few west coast music labels that they feel akin to).
If you wanna support the band there is some sweet merch on their website. You can also purchase their music on Itunes if you wanna work up them artist karma points.
